Visions of Anáhuac. Mexican journeys in avant-garde film
Salvador Amores, Mexico
From Eisenstein’s attractions to the surrealism of Breton and Buñuel, the land and life of Mexico have aroused the affinities of a considerable number of avant-garde artists. Film has not been the exception: there it discovered not only a fascinatingly exotic environment but a convenient space for formal inquiries. This project aims to unravel the ways in which Mexico has been shown by said tradition and the poetics that its geographic and spiritual traits have inspired.
