Regulations

1. RAW: Residencies Arché→Work is an itinerant programme and organized by Arché, Apordoc’s creative development lab in the scope of Doclisboa International Film Festival and Márgenes/Work, Márgenes Film Festival’s creative development lab.

2. RAW: Residencies Arché→Work takes place between October and November in Lisbon and Madrid that includes the participation in Arché, an artistic residency in Lisbon and the participation in Márgenes/Work.

3. RAW aims at fostering the criativity, training, research and experimentation through a programme of artistic residencies for filmmakers and visual artists, researchers and critics with the following objectives:

  • To foster the cultural and economic relations between Spain and Portugal;
  • To promote the co-productions between member-countries of the Ibermedia Programme;
  • To create market access opportunities to emerging talents, respecting the artistic and economic specificities of each project and considering the production process as an authorial one process as well;
  • To foster the proximity between film production and film criticism and research.

4. RAW is dedicated to film projects that encompass a strong implication in the domain of the real – projects able to experiment the potential and boundaries of its documentary matrix and to young film researchers in the iberoamerican cinema field.

5. RAW is divided into two different strands: Creation Residencies, aiming at directors with a film project, and Criticism and Research Residencies.

6. RAW targets emerging talents with a feature film project in the development, production or post-production stage as well as young film critics and researchers from member-countries of the Ibermedia Programme: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.

7. The RAW programme starts in the context of Doclisboa, where participants attend the Arché programme and ends in the scope of Márgenes Film Festival, with the participation in Márgenes/Work.

The programme of activities includes project development workshops, pitching sessions, individual tutorships, meetings with experts, networking activities, both on site and online.

Between the two festivals, the selected participants will be in Artistic Residency, between Lisbon and Trujillo.

In the first moment of the Artistic Residency, in Lisbon, the selected participants work on the development of their projects, with personalized online monitoring by tutors, assigned to each participant. During this period, they will also participate in masterclasses and online meetings, both individual and collective.

The second moment, in Trujillo, aims to deepen the encounter between the participants of the Creative Residencies and those of the Criticism and Research. Each author will be able to continue working on their project individually, although the community and collective sense, interconnecting creation and thought and the relation with the place, conduced by experienced professionals, where this moment of the artist residency takes place, are the key axes on which we want to cement the first steps of this experience.
